Refund of the residual e-vignette value
Refund of the residual e-vignette value is only possible for annual and semi-annual e-vignettes. If a vehicle with the registration number linked to an annual or semi-annual e-vignette is removed from the record of registered vehicles before the expiration of the e-vignette, the owner or holder of such a vehicle may claim a residual value refund for the annual or semi-annual e-vignette from the toll road operator for the time from the date of the vehicle removal from the record of registered vehicles to the date of the e-vignette’s expiry.
The same applies if a competent authority issues a new register plate with a different registration number for a vehicle with a registration number linked to the e-vignette before its validity expiration (for example, due to the theft or loss of the target plate), namely for the time from the date when the new registration plate is issued to the expiration date of the e-vignette’s validity.
Refund of the residual e-vignette value is only possible for annual and semi-annual e-vignettes.
For vehicles registered in the Republic of Slovenia, the toll road operator obtains the necessary information ex officio by direct access to the record of registered vehicles.
If a vehicle is registered abroad, the refund claim for the residual e-vignette value must have a certificate of the competent authority from that country attached, confirming that the vehicle was removed from the record of registered vehicles, together with a certified Slovenian translation.
If the ownership of a vehicle and the registration plate with an annual or semi-annual e-vignette linked to it is transferred to a new owner or holder of a vehicle, the previous owner or holder of the vehicle cannot exercise the right to a refund of the residual e-vignette value. The owner or holder of the vehicle is also not eligible for a refund of the residual value of an annual or semi-annual e-vignette if the e-vignette is linked to temporary registration plates.
A refund claim for the residual e-vignette value can be filed in our online store, which requires you to register. You can also file your claim at the DARS points of sale (DarsGo services), or send it by ordinary mail by completing, printing and signing the form and enclosing a copy of the invoice for the e-vignette purchase to DARS d.d., Dunajska 7, 1000 Ljubljana, marked “For e-vignette”.
For processing your refund claim for the residual value of your annual or semi-annual e-vignette, DARS, as the toll road operator, has the right to charge a compensation fee to the owner or holder of the vehicle. The residual value of the annual or semi-annual e-vignette, reduced by the compensation fee amounting to 6 EUR (incl. VAT), is paid to the owner or holder of the vehicle by the toll road operator.
If DARS approves the application, the customer will receive a note by ordinary mail or e-mail, stating the amount that will be remitted to the customer's bank account. The residual e-vignette value will be refunded within 30 days from the date when the claim is approved by DARS.
